The Cadet ROK class runs a control chassis, tyre, motor, oil, and pump gasoline only. This means that with equal equipment across all drivers, our youngest class is about developing the driver in a simple and controlled environment. The lightweight 60cc motor with an electric starter is air-cooled, all this culminates in a machine which is reliable, safe, exhilarating, and easy to maintain, even for people who are not yet confident working in automotive applications - this is a great place to start!

Vortex Mini ROK

The Vortex Mini ROK class is typically run with a 28mmø tube chassis with 1010mm wheel base to suit small drivers. A full sized adult chassis may be run in this class as well. Karts must use a controlled (unmodified) Vortex Mini ROK 60cc aircooled motor. These have an electric starter and make 10hp. Drivers in this age group begin to appreciate that small aspects of the kart can be tuned to improve their performance on track. Try changing the front and rear track width, tyre pressures, caster & camber - your driver will begin to appreciate the effect of these subtle changes, and learn the importance of communicating effectively when something isn't right.

Drivers in this age group move to a full-sized adult chassis. This machine is 1400mm wide with a wheel base no longer than 1300mm. The class has a controlled (unmodified) 125cc Rotax Max motor which develops 23hp. The motor comes complete with an electric starter and is water cooled with electronic ignition timing. Open class gives the racer unadulterated choice to run what ever they want, be it two motors, gearboxes, or front brakes. These machines are fast and they're a handful. You may as well quit your gym membership because 5 laps around KartSport Taranaki in a shifter kart will show you what hard work really is! KZ2 motors are the most widely used formula in this class, and arguably are considered the formula 1 of karting, with a six speed sequential gearbox transmitting 45hp to the wheel at 13,500rpm.
